ORC Fall 2021 - Week 3 | Let the Shopping Begin!

shopping back with one room challenge logo

If you remember from my Week 1 post, there is quite a bit to shop for in the way of bedding, décor, paint, & accessories....all of my favorite things!  And I love nothing more than to peruse the findings on-line, through catalogue, or in store, but with this Guest suite make-over I have the added advantage of attending the Fall High Point Furniture Market over the course of this week. It is the largest Furniture and Décor trade show in the world and I have spent many markets mastering the art of shopping it!! While it is best know as a trade-only event, there is a portion of the market that is quickly transpiring to accommodate enthusiastic design shoppers as well. For me, the market has many facets and serves all of my business endeavors equally. While at past markets I was always able to bring home to my studio, samples and one of-a-kind finds to entice my clientele, there is now a broader market for me to purchase local goods provided by new and emerging vendors that also bring their finest to High Point N.C. !! Since the pandemic of 2019 that has turned this Industry upside down, on the supply side and demand side of this curve, I have chose to not order any furnishings and accents overseas, and am sticking closer to home (so to speak)!

The Guest Suite

Alright, let's see where exactly all of this product is fitting in:

This quite roomy space of almost 200 ft2 space will have two separate areas, and I modified the original plan when I built the house. What was suppose to be a closet will now be a niche for vanity.
Color will also lay a big role because I will be painting the two areas contrasting colors...black and white of course!
What has been a real advantage for me with my rendering skills was being able to visually see as to where my site lines need to be and where I need to divide the space. Also, it is great that I can actually move furniture around a space without actually having to move furniture around physically. Something that I loved when I was a bit younger to do, but with these heavy Ikea pieces....not so much now-

So now, that I have given you a sneak peek into this serene bedroom transformation, I promise there will be more to share next time as now I need to prepare for my little shopping escapade. Ohhh...the places I shall go!!  Don't forget to check back soon and in the meantime visit all the other Great Designers at the Better Homes & Gardens One Room Challenge and cheer them on                                                              as well---

from the light of my home to yours,

Deb
