ORC Fall 2021 - Week 5 | Black Magic!
I'm baaack!! What a whirlwind it has been these last couple of weeks. I've managed to squeeze in a couple of Birthdays, Anniversary, HPMKT shopping, and a little vacay! Of course I wanted to include some real live research into the "art of hospitality" and Charlestown, S.C., never disappoints.
This will breed some new insights into my One Room Challenge guest room remake. It's all in the details!
While Southern architecture and long-held traditions prevail through out the region with it's beautiful moss lined trees and cobbled streets, my stay was more of a contemporary nature at the Inn at Middleton Place along side the remnants of the Middleton Place Plantation. And what a juxtaposition of Architecture it was.
Here I was strolling the grounds at this historical inn----
The One Room Challenge
And now back to the One Room Challenge! I can't wait to show you all what I have planned for this guest room. After careful consideration as to which Sherwin Williams paint colors will be used, I finally landed on 'Black Magic' for my vanity nook walls and 'Extra White' for the rest of the walls in the room. I am excited for this on-trend look and it will tie in beautifully with the other rooms in the home so to provide a continuity of flow throughout. This neutral backdrop will showcase all the other elements I have planned for the space.
The vanity that I have chosen for this space is small and pretty contemporary but will add a little elegance to the nook along with this unique sconce that I have installed on the wall beside it. I am really bedazzled by its luminous quality.
Another find I came across from a local shop was this iridescent stool which I think will really sparkle in this space. We will just have to wait and see!
High Point Fall Market 2021
My time at the Fall 2021 HPMKT was a short one this time, so I was on a mission to make it very productive. In case you are not familiar with the largest trade show that Furniture & Décor Retailers, Designers and other Industry folks partake in twice annually, please follow my Blogs to learn the ins and outs of this global marketplace that I have been involved with for some time now! Through the good times and bad times it never disappoints in education, networking, and shopping endeavors. High Point is a city in central North Carolina that is ever evolving and now as a world class destination for Interior Designers and enthusiasts alike.
One of the events I attended pertained to sustainability in the market place and I was very excited to meet one of the guests and hear her 'Sustainability Story'. Hilary Farr is one of the hosts on HGTV's 'Love It Or List It' and I just love her and the show. She has partnered with Kaleen Rugs and her sustainable jute indoor/outdoor rugs are amazing!
Another highlight of my shopping trip was getting to see what's new at my favorite window treatment vendor, RT Dressing. Below is owner Rhonda showing me a crisp, beautiful white 100% cotton panel that can be semi-customized or (ready-made) in a timely fashion. For my guest room I ordered the "Manchester Cloud" unlined with a grommet heading so as to allow the utmost natural light into a northside window for a contemporary look and ease of maneuverability! They are going to look so breezy and I was amazed how fast they arrived...only a few days!
The photos only show a small snapshot of her drapery lines, there is quite a vast array I am equipped to show clients on my sample handles when I meet with them. There are a variety of fabrics and styles to choose from. Visit my website to learn more and see how we can dress up your space! DebSoChic
Here are some additional pics I was able to capture while shopping....
Well, as you can imagine I had quite a busy day! Needless to say I am worn out by days end. But I am already planning my next adventure in the spring. I just can't wait!!
I think I've covered all there is to cover for this post of the Earthen Chic blog's participation in the ORC. Until next week---
