ORC Fall 2021 - Week 6 | The Homestretch!

Wow...between last week and this weekend I have accomplished plenty! I have just finished putting the final touches of the paint on all the walls and I also managed to get all the lighting installed. I still am waiting on an electrician to split the current lighting into two switches (something that got overlooked when the original builder installed the wall lights) but that will have to wait till next month :/, so onward I go! But just incase you need to recap:

(Week 1  |  Week 2  |  Week 3  |  Week5)

Lighting Install

At the beginning, I was planning on installing lighting pendants in the corner over the bed. But I came across another alternative to hardwiring fixtures, and came across some wonderful wicker and rattan lighting pendants at World Market! Going to give them a try....which are you more partial to?

Some of their newer varieties are on display in-store only and I think I have found THE one!!

While you do have your choice of black, white or clear, I would still like to find a chain link to intertwine the cord for a more interesting vibe and a bit more swagger!

All the electrical outlets are in the right place for this kind of installation and the ceiling already has hooks that might suffice. Sooo excited to see how this will turn out.

Window Treatment

After having received the drapes really quickly from my vendor, @RT Dressings, in High Point, I am in love with the crisp clean look of the white cotton with just the right amount of weight that has a slight textured weave running throughout.

I ordered them extra long so to install the rod a bit higher on the wall and create more height in the room. The cotton canvas Roman shades behind them will give complete privacy when closed.

I bet you're wondering what the rod is like? Since grommets are neat contemporary solution to operating drapes...sometimes all that is needed is a pretty finial to tie the look together--

A beautiful leaf pattern caught my eye instantly!

Rug

Well...I'm sure by now you are getting the feel for where I am going with this room. On trend today is a warm earthy style highlighted by textures and patterns that create a  heightened space for the senses.

A guest room should absolutely be welcoming and cozy and I think I will achieve that with this soothing shag underfoot by placing it under bed-

I think this great tribal find from Nourison will provide that for sure!

What's Next...?

Aright, I think I have provided enough of a snapshot this week to keep you excited for what's to come, so now I have to get back to it! After all, there's still so much to do and never enough time! There's still a bed that needs to be made...and don't forget I always include a surprise FEATURE in my projects and this time will be no exception!!

Many thanks to the sponsors @BetterHomes&Gardens and @SherwinWilliams for helping make this challenge possible and be sure to visit the other One Room Challenge participants

Fun fun fun! I love the pendant lights - any of them would be great, but I think the white beads are my personal fave!
